Geraldine F. Crites, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Arcadia, Florida, on March 14, 2017.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1925, in Hartford, West Virginia, to William and Margaret Cunningham Fields.
Geraldine and her late husband moved to Arcadia 42 years ago from Birch River, West Virginia. Geraldine was of the Protestant faith. Geraldine was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed. She loved cooking for her family at their gatherings, enjoyed sewing and was a very accomplished quilt maker.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary (Cindy) Crites and William Crites both of Arcadia, Elberon “Jim” (Connie) Crites, Jr. of Lake City, Florida; daughters, Ellen Gray of Arcadia and Erma (Ed) Hodge of Fort Myers, Florida; two brothers, Wayne Fields of Michigan and Gene Fields of West Virginia; sister, Doris Greuser of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Anna Crites and Peggy Crites both of Arcadia; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Elberon J. Crites Sr.; parents; brothers, Donnie Fields, Earl Fields and Clyde Fields; son- in-law, Bob Gray; and granddaughter, Tami Crites.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel with the Rev. David Budell of Heritage Baptist Church officating. Burial will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia.
