Weldon F. Williams

Weldon Franklin Williams, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, in Arcadia, Florida.

He was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Lyons, Georgia.

Weldon graduated early in 1951 and was mobilized into the Army. He then proudly served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. Weldon worked close to 40 years in the insurance business and retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company. He made many lifelong friends as he worked a collection route.

He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church until he fell ill. He was a member of the Desoto County Historical Society and truly enjoyed each monthly meeting. Weldon enjoyed fishing, playing cards and talking with the fellas at the Arcadia McDonald’s.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Allen Williams of Arcadia; and his daughter, Pam (Andy) Ames; grandsons, Landon and Haydon; and his best friend of many years Junior Griffis, all of Arcadia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Colon Williams and Annie Kersey Williams.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. where a service will start at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1509 East Highway 70, Arcadia. Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church New Sanctuary Fund, 1509 E. Oak St., Arcadia, FL 34266 or to the Desoto County Historical Society, PO Box 1824, Arcadia, FL 34265.
