Donald Michael Lawruk

Donald Michael “Don” Lawruk, 75, of Lake Suzy, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.

He was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Altoona, Pa., to Magdaline (nee Gurna) and Antony Lawruk.

Donald spent most of his career as an automotive Tool and Die Maker. In 1997, he retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio. He was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port, Fla. Donald loved living in Florida, playing golf, woodworking, and helping his church and friends. Mostly, though, he loved his family. He will be deeply missed.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara A.(nee DeSoto); daughters, Rebecca A. Blackson of Cortland, Ohio, Samantha L. Gullett of Jacksonville, Fla., and Christina R. Poschner of Austintown, Ohio; son, Michael A. Lawruk of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven beloved grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter, Maurice and Adam Lawruk; and sisters, Olga Romerowicz, Jennie Cramer and Alice Hanna. Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Moore; and his brothers, Joseph and Raymond Lawruk.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Farley Funeral Home in North Port, with a Panachyda Service to follow. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, followed by interment at Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice, Fla.
