Jerry “Delmer” Coker, 74, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, in Sarasota, Fla.
He was born Feb. 20, 1939.
Delmar was a lifelong resident of Arcadia. He graduated from DeSoto County High School with the class of 1957. Delmar retired from Central Maloney Transformer Co., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading Western novels, and watching football on TV, especially the Florida teams. Delmar was a member of Oak Hill Baptist, Arcadia.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Coker of Arcadia; two daughters, Karen Coker of Arcadia, and Terri Sue Coker of Virginia; a granddaughter, Summer McCullen of Bradenton, Fla.; and one sister, Evelyn Smith of Florida. Delmer was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Eula (nee White) Coker; a son, Jerry Delmer Coker Jr.; and a brother, Phillip Coker.
Visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, from the graveside at Oak Hill Cemetery, Arcadia, FL. Graveside services will follow at 1p.m, with the Rev. Tim Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Online condolence may be made at pongerkaysgrady.com.
