Christine Lavinder, 68, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 17, 1945, in Richmond, Ind., and moved to Arcadia 37 years ago from Xenia, Ohio.
Christine was of the Protestant faith. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Christine stayed very active and enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard planting flowers and building fences. She also liked to do upholstery on furniture and had a big heart for all animals.
She is survived by her loving husband, of 49 years, John L. Lavinder of Arcadia; three daughters, Rhonda (Fines) Walker and Julie (Thomas Wondergem) Lavinder all of Arcadia, and Cassandra (Ryan) Prescott of Carterville, Ga.; brothers, Sam Fields of Bradenton, Fla., and John Fields of Burnsville, N.C.; sister, Linda (Roberto) Perez of Bradenton; Aunt Mabel (Walter) Forman of Clearfield, Ky; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; six nieces, and nephews; and Dale (Sherry) Cochran, longtime family friend and brother and sister in the Lord.
A visitation of family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Lonnie Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. Ogden Cemetery, Ft. Ogden, FL.
