Karen Christiansen Sherman, 57, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, in her home.
She was born May 12, 1956, in Passaic, N.J.
Karen grew up in Owego, N.Y., and, in 1981, moved to Arcadia, Fla., with her family. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arcadia, where she sang in the choir, played in the Handbell Choir, and worked with the church youth group. Karen was a member of the Branscomb Lady’s Church Group, and participated in many church functions, including several seasonal church plays.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebekah Lynn (Darren) Moeller of Auburn, Wash.; mother, Dolores Christiansen of Arcadia; sister, Diane Wolcott of Arcadia; grandson, Kelan Moeller of Auburn; niece, Dr. Katharine (Matthew) Markell of San Antonio, Texas; three nephews, Thomas (Dr. Susan) Wolcott and Benjamin Wolcott, all of North Port, Fla., and Jonathan (Jacqualine) of Arcadia; and several nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Gordon N. Christiansen.
A memorial service will be conducted at a future date at Trinity United Methodist Church in Arcadia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Youth Group or Handbell Choir. Online condolences can be made online at www.pongerkaysgrady.com.
