Edna M. White, 86, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away peacefully, Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, with her daughters by her side.
She was born in Garrard County, Ky., and moved to Florida in 1968 from Indiana.
Edna has called Arcadia home for the past 25 years. She leaves behind a legacy of placing God first in every aspect of her life. Edna received the most pleasure from volunteering 15,000 hours as a DeSoto Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Member. She was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church in Indiana, as well as First Baptist Church of Arcadia.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Walter) Martin of Plainfield, Ind., and Jacqueline (Phil) Murray of Greenwood, Ind.; brother, “Bug” (Fairy) Hawley of Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Chuck, J.R., Stacy, Deana, Larry and Sarena; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Dorothy Cheek Hawley; brothers, F.H. Hawley, Bob Hawley, Vernon Hawley and Joe Hawley; and husband, Herbert White.
