Doris Jean Rackeweg, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 22, 2014, in Arcadia, Fla.
She was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Pierceton, Ind., to Alva Ben and Jessie Olive (nee Kiefer) Rider of Pierceton, Ind.
She moved to Arcadia in 1970. Doris graduated from Pierceton High School, Class of 1943. Doris was a member of Order of Eastern Star and several lodges and clubs in both Indiana and Florida. She had a passion for dancing, sewing, reading, traveling, arts and crafts, and yard work.
Doris is survived by her three daughters, Brenda (Don) Bolin of Franklin, Tenn., Elaine (Ron) England of Laketon, Ind., and Gena (Ken) Legg of Springhill, Tenn., one son, Edwin (Louise) Rackeweg Jr., of Arcadia; sister, Ruth Horn of Pierceton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three nieces; and four nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin C. Rackeweg Sr. in 1975; sister, Mildred Black; brother, Robert Rider; and her parents, Alva Ben and Jessie Olive Kiefer Rider.
Visitation will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia.
