Stanley “Gene” Wooten, 64, of LaBelle, Fla., passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, in LaBelle.
He was born Aug. 10, 1949, in Arcadia, Fla., to Raymond R. and Lillian R. (nee Brown) Wooten.
Gene owned and operated Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours for many years. He also raised many different animals native to Florida, including several Florida panthers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Iris Lynn (nee Harris) Wooten; daughter, Shelley Lynn Wooten-Gericke; grandchildren, Tyler Gene Wooten, Gena Lynn Wooten and Autumn Hope Gericke; and brother, Richard Wooten. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Raymond Willard Wooten.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Eastside Baptist Church in LaBelle, with Pastor Jeremy Howell officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Joshua Creek Cemetery in Arcadia.
