A Zolfo Springs woman was killed when she drove her John Deere lawn mower across State Road 66, into the path of a westbound truck. Florida Highway Patrol reported that on Sept. 29, at 11:35 a.m., Betty Sue Bulloch, 89, of Zolfo Springs, was driving her mower across the highway just as 39-year-old Yoannys Alvarez Crespo of Hialeah was heading west on State Road 66 driving a Kenworth semi.

Although he took evasive action by steering to the right, the semi driver was unable to avoid a collision, the FHP report says. Consequently the left front of the semi collided with the lawn mower and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
