The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of Kenneth James Myers, 27, claiming he broke into someone’s house while the owners had evacuated due to Hurricane Irma, and stole several items.

According to the arrest report, a couple had evacuated their home in Charlotte County to escape Hurricane Irma. While they were away in Georgia, they received an email from their bank indicating their Capitol One credit card had been used to purchase phone minutes for an inmate in an unknown jail. They called CCSO and asked them to check their home. CCSO reported back that a rear slider had been forced open and the credit card was not in the location it was supposed to be. CCSO secured the slider.
