Real estate developer Greg Eagle of Cape Coral was sentenced Monday to six years in federal prison for a fraudulent deal in which investors lost $17 million.
Eagle, 63, had entered a guilty plea to the charges in March, but later tried to withdraw his plea when it appeared his sentence would not be as lenient as he anticipated. The U.S. District Court, however, did not allow the withdrawal. Eagle is expected to be sentenced to a prison close to his home and was ordered to report to prison on Feb. 7, according to the Fort Myers News-Press.
