Larry Wallace, the Arcadia man who was arrested in March and charged with dousing his dog with kerosene and setting her on fire, was found on July 9 to be incompetent to proceed with a trial at this time.
The dog, who was severely burned, was rescued and taken to the Hardee Animal Rescue Team. She was later dubbed “Hope” and received extensive treatment for her burns at a specialty animal clinic in Tampa, and now lives with one of her rescuers in Hardee County. Wallace was arrested on charges of arson and animal cruelty.
