Seniors take the floor — literally; Coach White honored

Coach White brought her seniors up to the captains' meeting with the officials for the last regular season home game against North Port. The seniors battled hard but lost a heartbreaker 23-25, 25-23, 25-10, 13-25, 11-15.

A history-setting eight seniors were recognized during the volleyball final season match against North Port, but it was not held at the Bulldog gym.

Fact is, not a single practice or game has been played at the Bulldogs’ gym this year. Due to nonstop flooding of a washing machine over the summer, and a hurricane that didn’t help, the volleyball team has had to travel to the middle school all season for practice and games. Though no one complained, thoughtful Coach Laura White came up with the idea to take 2-foot sections of the DeSoto County High School gym floor and have the seniors’ names and numbers etched into each plank.
