When the 1-7 Sarasota Booker Tornadoes came into town to face the 1-4 Bulldogs in a district game, the fans figured it would be a close game with hopes of victory.

Those hopes were dashed quickly, however, as the Tornadoes scored on the game-opener kickoff and again after the Bulldogs’ first three-and-out punt return. A fumble recovered by the Tornadoes would have been their third touchdown in less than four minutes had it not been for an illegal block in the back on the return. The 15-yard penalty didn’t deter the Tornadoes, as they traveled 50 yards on 10 plays and three first downs to take a 20-0 lead with three minutes still remaining in the first quarter.
