Ty Wesley (12) celebrated his 16th birthday in a big way, catching a touchdown pass from Arnold “Bubba” Mele (2) on the first play of the game to put DeSoto County on top 6-0 in the team's 16-11 win at Bayshore. Wesley also recovered an onside kick and had a fumble recovery that he took to the one-yard line.

You could understand if the Bulldogs may have been a little hesitant before playing at Bayshore last Friday night. Bayshore had both senior night and homecoming, so there was a little more excitement in the stands than usual. The Bruins also were coming off an exciting 8-7 win over Hardee from the week before.

DeSoto County has also had its share of bad luck, with three-year starting quarterback Malcom Smith out of the game, along with senior lineman Anthony Gaitan. There were a couple of other players nursing various bumps and bruises and the team was coming off an embarrassing 39-0 loss at home to Booker the week before.
