When the DeSoto County varsity girls soccer team got together at halftime in their match against Sebring, they were trailing 5-0 and were a little embarrassed.

They weren’t playing well and team captain Brenda Perez let them know what they were doing wrong. “There’s no talking out there,” she said. “I can hear the people in the stands but I can’t hear anybody else talking. We’re not being aggressive and not making any shots on the goal.”
