The DeSoto County Middle School Panthers lost their season finale to Hardee 16-14 in what was Panthers’ Head Coach Monty McLeod’s final game of his coaching career. His record at the helm of the Panthers is 78-11 including a 6-2 record this season.

McLeod is the only coach the Panthers have had since their program started 14 years ago. “It would have been nice to go out with a win, but my boys played hard all the way to the end,” he said. “There is a reason Hardee is undefeated this season, they’re a good team. I’ve got nothing to complain about, we did the best we could, we just came up a little short.”
