It was a rough week for the DeSoto County boys’ varsity basketball team. They played a lackluster game against Lake Placid and lost 57-50. They followed that up with a district loss at home against Lemon Bay 66-49.
“Why are you guys hanging your heads? This season ain’t over,” Head Coach Koonce told his team after the game. “We lost tonight but now they have to beat us again and you know how hard it is to beat a team three times in a season? Someone once told me that when a ship sinks, the rats jump off. We’ve worked hard for two months. If anyone is going to jump off, then now is the time to do it.” Nobody left the locker room.
