Wade Huckabe, in his second year as the DeSoto County High School industrial technology teacher, sits with varsity softball coach Billy Hines on one of the benches that were made by students in Huckabe’s class. Twenty students participated in building the six benches, which are planned to go in the dugouts for the baseball and softball fields.

“This gives them experiences in all phases of the building trade from reading blueprints to actually building the benches,” Huckabe said. “As the building trade comes back these students will already have the experience needed to help them land a job. Also, it saved the school money by having the students build these rather than buying them.”
