The pitching was certainly strong enough, and the fielding was steady, but the varsity Bulldogs’ bats remained relatively silent in a 4-1 loss to Island Coast. Senior Bay Hale pitched six strong innings recording five strikeouts, one walk and scattereing seven hits and three runs on the night. Hale received minimal support from his offense, however, as they could only manage two hits in the game.

While Hale faced 21 batters in five innings, Island Coast’s Junior Joey Theune faced 17 batters and surrendered no runs, one hit, three walks and two defensive double plays to give the Gators a 1-0 lead.
