While fall sports such as volleyball might be in the gym working on specific skills, you’ll find many members of the DeSoto County High School football squad in the weight room lifting the iron and doing various exercises that increase heart rate and stamina.

“We’re kind of hit and miss right now with voluntary attendance,” head coach Matt Egloff said. “The prisoners (work crew from DeSoto Correctional Institution) are on campus right now, so we can’t come in until they’re gone.” Egloff continued the crew will be repainting the weight room and installing mirrors next week. “We’ll all take a vacation, with everyone coming back full force July 7 at 8 a.m.,” he said.
