CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds starter David Holmberg struggled in his season debut, giving up five earned runs in 22⁄3 innings in a 6-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Holmberg, a graduate of Port Charlotte High School, gave up three home runs among the seven hits he allowed. He walked three and struck out one, finishing with a 16.88 ERA.
