The Venice Planning Commission addressed a number of issues raised by the public at a workshop this week on a draft Comprehensive Plan. It included the rebuttal of a sitting council member who testified as a resident.
The plan, required by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, establishes guidance for future growth in the city. It also proposes new mixed-use zoning areas that the city hopes will continue a Nolenesque vision of development in the area as it grows. (John Nolen designed the city’s unique layout back in 1925.)
