PORT CHARLOTTE — A 12-year-old was arrested on multiple charges of battery and criminal mischief Wednesday. A school resource officer at the Charlotte Harbor School in Port Charlotte noticed the male juvenile jumping the fence and walking off school grounds around 11:45 a.m. The boy walked into an apartment complex behind the school and emerged about five minutes later, climbing over the fence onto school grounds.
He then threw a rock at the school building and picked up a second rock, which he threw at a school van, shattering the side window. The school resource officer attempted to make the boy stop, but he would not listen, according to the arrest report.
