A tropical wave off the east coast of Florida poses no threat to Florida, National Weather Service Meteorologist Tyler Fleming said. The wave was producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the Bahamas on Thursday. Its chances of developing into a named storm were as low as 10 percent, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Fleming said the tropical wave is expected to “skirt up the east coast of Florida towards North Carolina where it might skirt the outer banks of North Carolina or might stay offshore, but it’s not expected to develop.”
