Graduation rates rise in Charlotte, Sarasota schools

Lemon Bay High School had 283 of 265 students graduate from their ninth grade to their senior year. In 2017 there were 93.6 percent of LBHS students who graduated. Graduation rates were up in Charlotte and Sarasota counties in 2017.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY — Each year, Lemon Bay High School principal Bob Bedford announces the achievements of the “nerd herd” during graduation.

He rattles off the number of students graduating with a grade-point average of 3.08 to those above a 4.0. In total, he announced 263 of the 283 LBHS seniors in 2017 made up the nerd herd.
