The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced it is reviewing all workforce development boards across the state — including two covering Charlotte and Sarasota counties — after accusations unfolded that others nearby inflated job placement numbers.
Two dozen boards run 100 career centers spread throughout Florida, which are designed to connect employers with workers and vice-versa. They receive a large portion of federal funding and provide training, career fairs and other services aimed at guiding workforce development in the state.
