City floats ideas to make more money

The Venice City Council on Friday held its first Strategic Planning session in two years and wants to zero in on new revenue streams.

That’s important, members said, because of what’s coming down the pike, referring to an upcoming Homestead Exemption referendum that could cost the city up to $400,000 annually, and other potential county and state actions that could raise city expenses.
