The West Coast Inland Navigation District (WCIND) is close to hiring a district maritime officer.

Derelict boats pose both navigation and environmental hazards, Executive Director Justin McBride told the WCIND board last summer, and the laws regarding them — as well as live-aboard vessels and others not in transit — are confusing and in flux.
