Arson suspected in Rotonda home fire

Unbeknownst to neighbors, a fire burnt the interior of this empty home at 56 Bunker Lane, Rotonda West. Discovered Friday by Englewood Area Fire Control District, state fire marshals deemed the fire as a suspected option. Anyone with information, should call theFlorida Division of Fire Marshals at 1877-662-7766. The state offers rewards for information leading to the conviction of arsonists.

ROTONDA WEST — State Fire Marshal investigators suspect arson as the cause of a house fire in Rotonda West.

The Englewood Area Fire Control District responded to a call at 9:45 a.m. Friday to 56 Bunker Lane and discovered the interior of the home covered with soot and other signs of the recent fire. The house itself was empty. A Bunker Lane resident noticed the house’s windows stained by smoke and an open door and reported it. The exterior of the home was not damaged by the fire, district officials said.
