PORT CHARLOTTE — Nathan Karns can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

For two weeks, the pitcher who the Tampa Bay Rays traded three players to acquire has only been able to showcase his ability during bullpen sessions and live batting practice. But in Friday’s spring training opener against the Baltimore Orioles, Karns finally got a chance to pitch in a game.
