PUNTA GORDA — A Port Charlotte man has been sentenced to life in prison for making a decision that could have cost a local deputy his life.
Henry Albert Holbrook, 56, learned his fate Tuesday morning at the Charlotte County Justice Center. A jury in February found him guilty of the attempted first-degree murder of Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sean Franko. On Nov. 11, 2011, Franko was responding to a report of a man waving a gun at Bingo Trail in Murdock. Holbrook fired multiple shots from his five-round, .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver at Franko, but no one was injured.
