Local rancher John Flowers believes the rising cost of beef doesn’t just put dollars in local cattle producers’ pockets, it also means more money for the Charlotte County economy.

Cattle producers throughout Florida, including Charlotte County, are expanding their herds because of the price increase, Flowers said. That means they are leasing more property to raise the cows and buying more products.
