Venice Theatre’s ‘Cabaret’ is spot on

One would be hard-pressed to find a more historically accurate depiction of Germany on the eve of Hitler’s rise to power than “Cabaret,” the musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb, now on the main stage at Venice Theatre.

Unlike the film starring Joel Grey and Liza Minnelli, which sacrificed the history for the songs, dance and assorted Technicolor fluff, Venice Theatre’s production, directed by Brad Wages, is the total package.
