Nearly 200 motorcycle riders gathered Saturday morning at Downtown Gatorz in Punta Gorda for a memorial ride in remembrance of fallen hero, Charlotte County Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Wilson, who was killed in the line of duty nearly one year ago. The ride was organized by the Charlotte County 1st Gulf Coast Chapter of the Gunfighters Motorcycle Club (made up of active and retired law-enforcement officers), and president Chris Johnson was overjoyed with the turnout of supporters. The riders from Southwest Florida area motorcycle clubs, along with independent riders, took the same route through Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte as last year’s funeral procession, and then returned to Gatorz for lunch and fellowship. Tuesday will mark a year since Wilson’s death.
