October is the calm before the storm, as we begin preparations for the busy season. After Governor Scott and his wife Ann visited the museum in September, Executive Director Lori Howard received an invitation to First Lady Ann Scott’s Community Leaders’ Dinner at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee. Lori took Artifact Administrator Laurie Vullo along as her guest, and they enjoyed a wonderful networking dinner with the First Lady and other statewide community leaders. There were military officers, pastors and several teachers, but we were the only museum personnel. What a wonderful honor and a great way to close out our “slow” season!
After Halloween, as all of us know, we start welcoming our annual snowbirds. Some of our snowbird volunteers have already returned and are busy helping at the museum. One of them, Len Gorman, will host a seminar on Korea in our conference center (upstairs) at 4 p.m. tomorrow. Look for details in the events section of the paper.
