He wasn’t trying to decide what to order for dinner. All Gary Gouthro wanted to do was buy a cheap airline ticket with Spirit Airlines to fly with his wife from Fort Myers to Boston in December.
So in April — nine months prior — the 73-year-old Port Charlotte resident found a $222 round-trip fare. It was his first time using the discount airline, and Gouthro knew Spirit charged for all luggage, including a carry-on bag.
