T he Friends of the Englewood Charlotte Library are in need of new members. The Friends of the Library raise funds through their book sales, membership fees and donations. All funds raised by the Friends of the Library are used to support the library — summer children’s programs, Beach Story Time, book clubs, new materials and adult programs. The Friends also support our local community by providing scholarship funds for deserving Lemon Bay High School Seniors that have volunteered for the library during their high school tenure. An annual family membership for the Friends of the Library is only $5! You can pick up a membership form in the Friend’s Book Store at the library or ask for one at the library information desk. The Friends of the Library are meeting at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the library conference room, come join us.
Are you trying to research your family tree? The Charlotte County Library System has great resources on genealogy. At 1 p.m. Tuesday they are holding a Genealogy Roundtable at the Port Charlotte Library location. The Charlotte County Genealogical Society recognizes the importance of providing education for genealogists at all levels. Because ancestors multiply exponentially, it is important to understand the concepts involved in genealogy to assure that you are connecting each generation to the previous one in such a way that you are certain that you are claiming the right ancestor. For more information call 941- 764-5562. The Port Charlotte Library is located near the Cultural Center at 2280 Aaron St., Port Charlotte.
