Eleven days after making a $400 SunTrust online banking payment to what she believed was her Citibank credit card account, Christine Burr began a five-week odyssey to recover the money from an electronic “black hole.”
That’s because the Punta Gorda resident mistakenly entered the $400 figure to go to CITGO, the payee alphabetically just above Citi on her bill pay list. Compounding the matter, the CITGO credit card expired in 2012.
