Entertainment in earlier days was ofter hard to come by in Englewood. Mostly, it was self-generated and a lot of it revolved around our local waters as the two following newspaper items point out.
In February, 1917, a column in the Sarasota newspaper commenting on the social activities in Englewood quoted J. W. Green as saying she was entertaining her visiting guests “with boating, bathing and fishing and merry times were had by all.”
