Thursday evening at the Sarasota County Planning Commission meeting, the public will have its first real opportunity to weigh in on the proposed changes to the fiscal neutrality provisions of the 2050 Plan.
The 2050 Plan (intended to be the plan to take us to year 2050) evolved out of the work of the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) and of a study by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) that was commissioned by the county. In addressing such a complex and controversial effort, the county involved members of the community with a broad range of diverse interests, from developers, large landowners, real estate interests, environmentalists, neighborhood advocates and the cities’ governments to anyone with an interest in the future of Sarasota County.
