Escape the August heat with a Free Monday Night Movie on the big screen at 5 p.m. This week, Matthew McConaughey stars as a free-wheeling cowboy whose life is turned upside down in 1985 when he is diagnosed as HIV positive. Shunned and ostracized by many old friends, and bereft of government approved medicines, he decides to take matters into his own hands, tracking down alternative treatments from all over the world. Bypassing the establishment, he joins forces with an unlikely band of renegades and outcasts and establishes a hugely successful “buyer’s club.” Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto both received Academy Awards for their performances in this film. The film is rated R and recommended for adults.
