It may not have felt that way recently with the welcome run of temperatures in the 50s, but Charlotte County continues on track for its hottest recorded year at Punta Gorda Airport, according to the Southeast Regional Climate Center at the University of North Carolina.
In fact, based on the latest available data analyzed through Oct. 29 by the center, the county was experiencing its hottest periods of two years, 12 months, six months and three months. The average highs for 2017 so far are 3.2 degrees above normal.
