Martin Mandel snapped of photo of a female anhinga sitting on the dock piling in front of his apartment on Lemon Bay recently. This is unusual as the anhinga, which are in the cormorant family, are typically found around freshwater like rivers, lakes and swamps. It is rare to find one near salt or even brackish water like Lemon Bay or the Gulf. She spent the morning fishing and drying herself around the dock.
