SARASOTA COUNTY — A contract drawn up by former Sarasota County administrator Randall Reid for an analysis on the fiscal neutrality element of the Sarasota 2050 plan came under fire Tuesday by county commissioners looking for answers as to why a consultant’s report costing $90,000 came back that expanded far beyond the boundaries intended by commissioners.
Sarasota 2050 was adopted in 2002 as part of the county’s comprehensive plan. It’s designed to encourage housing that meets low-impact standards — and discourage urban sprawl — outside of municipal areas that are mainly east of Interstate 75.
