With foreclosure filings finally stabilizing at a manageable level, judicial efforts to reduce the backlog of home defaults in Charlotte County are gaining traction, clearing the way for more settlements and homes going on the market.
For the eighth straight month, the number of new county foreclosures remained in double digits, the first time that has occurred since 2006. During the peak of the housing bubble in 2008, residential foreclosures averaged 410 per a month in Charlotte County.
