Sales-tax group makes picks

MURDOCK — As the ad hoc citizens group concluded its weekslong deliberation on how to spend the revenue bonanza to be reaped with the hopeful renewal of the countywide one-cent sales tax referendum, some project supporters must have felt they won the lottery, while others came away empty and disappointed.

In reviewing multiple proposals promising community benefits, but understanding that the estimated $110 million generated over six years by the local option sales tax would go only so far, the Sales Tax Focus Group on Friday rejected some big-ticket items for demanding too big a piece of a limited pie.
