ENGLEWOOD — Loggerhead sea turtle nesting on Manasota Key and other area barrier islands are breaking records.

“We are up to 384 Loggerhead nests and one green (sea turtle nest),” Brenda Bossman said. She is the principal permit holder overseeing sea turtle patrols on bridgeless Knight and Don Pedro islands. “That’s at least 30 more nests than the banner year we had in 2012.”
