Edith Best “Edie” McKenna, 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.

She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to James and Adaleen Best.

Edie graduated from Battin High School, and, in 1940, married Francis “Frank” McKenna. She was a full-time homemaker, and was always involved in her community and in her church. In 1976, Edie and Frank moved from Oakhurst, N.J., to Englewood, Fla., for their retirement. They loved their home and loved the community of Englewood, and were very active members of Community Presbyterian Church.

She leaves two daughters, Kathleen Wolcott and Arlene (Thomas) Black of Placida, Fla.; granddaughter, Tara Wolcott of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two sisters, Marion Hammond of Belmar, N.J., and Muriel Hennings of Englewood; and five nieces and nephews. Edie was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; brother, Victor; and son-in-law, Craig.

A private Memorial Service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church in Englewood.
